Yeah Kim, I went.
Remember that pup that Craig got from Keller years ago ? Today, I watched that dog fetch Craig's son's first duck....... a nice greenhead.
I watched two young boys kill mallards today, and it was better than me doing the shooting. So yeah, I went.

Two us shot 12 yesterday - 6 gadwall, 2 mallards, 2 wigeon and 2 teal. Went back to the same spot today with a different hunting buddy and the big ducks had skedalled. Thank God for GWT as we shot 9 of the little forkers and 1 wigeon.

I boycotted the north opener. Took a couple kids to middle zone for the youth hunt. I want to thank MDC for perfectly timing the opener to coincide with cold weather. We have asked for a later season with cold weather........instead yall just made it colder earlier. Great job!!!!! It felt good to break out the UA gear and Drake pullover on the middle youth hunt. It was appreciated

They must have paid a bunch of money to make it happen......or Rey have that much pull. Either way I was nice. I might have to try to hint a day or two here this season if they are working that hard for us duck hunters

DMR, glad to get that story and to hear one of the pups is a workin dog.
I set out with my boys and a friend of theirs. We scratched a mixed bag of spoons, teal, ringers, gaddies mallard and a bill. I explained the shot window to everyone, as I always do and damned if that new kid didn't waste my left ear on the first group of spoonies.....I'm going for the plugs to save any sense of hearing I have left. Sunday was a slow sob, so slow two groups of gaddies busted us with dick-out @ 9 & 9:30. 3 ringers for the morn.
This weeks weather sucks though but it sounds like the migration is building.
my bro in Des Moines hunted some flooded corn last night, only had 4 ducks sitting on it.....gonna be few days before it commences.
